EXPRESS LANES

Toll Board

The lanes will be free of charge for transit buses, emergency vehicles and preregistered carpools with three or more passengers. Other commuters can choose to use the lanes to get a fast, reliable commute by paying a toll. The price will vary depending on the level of congestion in the lanes. The goal is to keep traffic in the lanes moving smoothly at all times. Since there are no tollbooths, tolls will be collected nonstop at highway speeds using an electronic toll-collection system. All of the existing general-purpose lanes will remain free of charge to all commuters.
